Lately, it seems like everywhere you look there’s tension, noise, something pulling people further apart. You can feel it in conversations, in the silence between them, even in the way people move through the city.

And then there are days like Denim Day.

The weather was perfect. Over 120 creatives showed up, but it didn’t feel like a crowd. It felt like a community. Like people choosing, intentionally, to be in the same place for the same reason.

To create. To connect. To be around something good.

What stood out most wasn’t just the outfits or the art being made, it was the energy. People came ready to collaborate. Not guarded, not competing, but open. Conversations started easily. Cameras were passed around. Strangers became familiar within minutes.

It was a diverse group that had different backgrounds, different styles, different levels of experience while all moving together in a way that felt natural.

At one point, I stepped back and just watched it all happening. The laughter. The small groups forming and reforming. The quiet moments in between shots. It felt like a reminder of something simple but easy to forget, when people are given the space, they will choose connection.

After the official time ended, no one rushed off.
A group went out to eat together. Others stayed behind, still shooting, still creating, like they weren’t ready to let the moment go. And maybe they weren’t. Maybe none of us were.
Later, I kept hearing the same thing from different people, in different words:
“I needed this.”
Not just an event. Not just photos. But a space that felt like a break from everything else. A place where, for a few hours, the world didn’t feel like it was falling apart. Where people could focus on something meaningful, something shared.
That’s what Denim Day became.
Not just a meet-up, but a reminder.
That community still exists.
That collaboration still matters.
That even in heavy times, people will come together to create something light.
And maybe that’s the point.
Not to ignore what’s happening around us, but to build spaces that remind us who we are in the middle of it.

I am so glad that I was lead to see this on IG and decided to take the opportunity to meet like-minded creatives and do something fun and enriching for the soul. I was initially coming alone but I decided to invite one of my new sister/friends from my @Aikan Acts Performing Arts Virtual acting classes and WE THOUROUGHLY enjoyed ourselves and being able to network with many beautiful, down to earth Creative people. My first but definitely not my last, looking forward to more opportunities to "Be the change WE want to see in the WORLD, PERIODTTT!
